MM173 - Storytelling

I arrived home later than usual and both the dog and the cat greeted me with questioning looks as if to say 'you're late....why?'.  After opening the door the cat raced in to eat some food.  She nibbles and doesn't eat it all at once.  Her bowl sits on the paper to save cleaning the floor everyday.  The dog hung back and watched me walk downstairs to put the washing on.  The photo is the scene that greeted me when I returned to the back door.  None of the animals were telling me what had happened!  Ideas?
