Balady roses

Balady is the local word for 'country', and describes all sorts of things. I've been asked 'balady?' When people want to know where I'm from. It's used to describe the local pitta style bread and flowers.

These flowers were a gift from a former student who is now a friend. She's very sweet and I guess has adopted me despite her being half my age. We've had some fun times together and it's nice to see her engaged now (even if she is so young).

And the roses, they smell like roses should. So beautifully perfumed. It's like the food here; pure, proper flavours that so many don't know in our Western countries.
