Chelsea, London
A few weeks ago Gavin and I went up to Peter Jones (John Lewis in Sloane Square) to browse for things we needed for the new house - being a new house means it does not have any loo roll holders or soap dishes etc. in the bathrooms, it requires shelving in certain cupboards, and all those little things that one installs into a house over the years to make it practical - a hook here, a wash line there - they are absent! So there is quite a bit to do but luckily Gavin is very practical and can do it all so we don't need to hire a handyman - apart from installing some pendant lights in the main reception rooms which an electrician will be doing.
So today we went back to Peter Jones to buy the things we had earmarked a few weeks ago - bathroom accessories, bedding for new beds, and other bits and pieces. Moving is a good time to throw out old towels and manky pillows and replace them! Coming out of Peter Jones we bumped into some friends who live near Windsor who also came into London today to do some shopping - the roads are quieter and there are no parking charges for street parking so its a good day to go shopping I think! We managed to find parking in a side street where I took this photo. I had forgotten how beautiful the brown stones of Chelsea are - I remember many years ago going on a tour of Boston and being told about the brown stones there, but these London ones are just as beautiful - and probably three times the price! Note all the For sale signs along the street.
Thomas has two GCSE exams on Tuesday and another one on Thursday - Luke starts his university exams on Tuesday, and Adam only starts his exams later this month. They are all busy studying hard and looking forward to the end of exams in a few weeks time.
