My brother's view

From his front door. The white flats in the distance were built in the late sixties, early seventies in the last century. Built as cheap housing, with plenty of space inside and greenery in between. Unfortunately the well intentioned effort for cheap housing failed. Soon the area was inhabited by mainly immigrants, legal and illegal. The area turned criminal and unsafe to be in.

In 1992 an Israeli fright airplane crashed into two of such flats, a huge shock. The two flats were demolished and at the same time a new plan was made for the area. A lot of other flats were taken down, new housing was planned, the remaining flats were uplifted along with the outside area. Shopping centers and Metro stations got a facelift as well.

The area changed entirely between 1992 and 2016. My brother lives in one of the few higher new buildings, the rest is three floors at the most. We've done some strolls in the past months, it's a real nice area these days.
