Stick Insects

So there we were.................... basking in the sunshine on our very sunny sun terrace........................ I was having a little snooze and Ann was sitting in her egg chair reading trashy magazines, when all of a sudden she spotted a 'green stick' walking in my direction................ And no, she hadn't been drinking wine!

Turned out that the 'green stick' was a stick insect. Or at least we thought it was. But how has a stick insect found it's way onto our sun terrace? Obviously a lot of 'googling' followed. And this is what 'Google' said -

'Found predominantly in the tropics and subtropics—although several species live in temperate regions—stick insects thrive in forests and grasslands, where they feed on leaves. Mainly nocturnal creatures, they spend much of their day motionless, hidden under plants.'

Mmmmmm.................. well obviously our sun terrace is very sunny it wouldn't be called a sun terrace if it wasn't but it's not big enough for a forest or grassland and we wouldn't exactly call it tropical or subtropical.

Soooooooo......................... where has 'Mr Greeny' OK, not a very original name, come from?

We bought some Lobelia plants from 'B&Q' last week. Is it possible that 'Mr Greeny' was an egg on those and then hatched out?......................

After Ann posted 'Mr Greeny' on FB one of her friends commented that she should move him on, because 'they multiply in hundreds'??!! After a quick check 'Mr Greeny' doesn't appear to have any friends or family. Though obviously they could all be hiding somewhere.

I guess 'Mr Greeny' is just going to be one of the mysteries of life?

When I left for my afternoon walk he, (or he might be a she) - how do you tell the sex of a stick insect – need google help again – was climbing up the wall. And when I returned he'd disappeared.

Sooooooo................ the question is:-

Where did 'Mr Greeny' come from and where has 'Mr Greeny' gone??????

PS – For anyone who is interested, have added a close-up photo of 'Mr Greeny' in extras.
