Play Ball!

The young seals are playing pretty close to the shoreline these days. A human family was there too, gathered at the water's edge, watching the seals dive and roll. The little girls had a brand new bright yellow ball, and the dad decided to kick it out over the waves and see what the seals would do. And, oops, he kicked it too hard, and between the tide and the wind the ball was very soon out of reach. One of the girls began to sob uncontrollably. Then the mom turned on the dad, "You ruined her whole entire day!" The man sulked. The littlest girl ran back and forth in the sand with her head down. The seals were curious, but they didn't balance the ball on a nose or anything like that. In no time at all the ball was just a tiny dot way out past the end of the wharf.
