Low
The Guardian today had a similar photo to this, of the river in Appleby, to show the low water levels. The comparison photo they put next to it, supposedly taken at a similar time last year, showed the difference. (Except it wasn't as close a contrast as it purported to show, as it was taken during Fair Week and that is always June!).
Water levels are very low indeed, unusual for this time of year. The ducks were looking a bit bewildered, not quite sure where to go, as they usually slide down from the bank into the water. I don't think they are that keen on stony ground! If it stays like this for Fair Week, it might cause problems for the washing of horses, but at least it will be more difficult to drown them!
Gloom and rain this morning made Orton market a bit of a disappointing event. We did not stay long. (Really enjoyed Masterchef last night, but sad that it has finished - just about the only thing I watch on TV.)
