Golden post boxes
With the end of the Olympics, more gold-painted pillar boxes are visible around the country.
We really could save on the gold paint, if our local boses are typical. They appear to be turning a golden autumnal colour, without intervention from the painters.
These once splendid glowing red monuments to the founding of the postal service are steadily corroding on street corners everywhere - a bit like their former neighbours, the red telephone boxes.
