The Weird & Wonderful of San Francisco
I woke up in San Francisco this morning. I joined 3 other crew members for breakfast and then walked down to Union Square to do a bit of shopping. You never know quite what you're going to see in this city, especially if you are willing to walk beyond the normal tourist traps.
I love the occasional murals of street art in this city and this vibrant example caught my eye. But the most intriguing thing I saw today was this indoor greenhouse and the 'Volksgarden' cylinders, growing plants via the hydroponic system - using light and water to provide nutrients to the plants instead of soil. This wheel was one of several that are part of the Project Open Hand, providing meals for sick and elderly neighbours all over the city.
