Kamloops - where the rainbow ends
It has been a chilly, damp day. In the middle of the night there was some rain and a driving wind. We are fortunate, though, because in the Okanogan a town of about 5ooo, Peachland, was experiencing a forest fire. The fire started in mid-afternoon yesterday and a strong wind caused it to spread rapidly through tinder-dry conditions. Four houses were consumed and 1500 people were evacuated with others placed on evacuation alert. Today, with cooler, less-windy weather and a slight bit of rain last night firefighters are beginning to control the fire.
In the afternoon today I went out to take some photos. When I had taken only one photo the rain began to fall. Just as I was about to seek shelter there was a blinding flash of light followed two seconds later by a very loud crash of thunder. Then there was a brief downpour with some hail. I had given up on further photography for the day until the sun came out and created this rainbow.
