Coot and Chick.

I had to be down in Lancashire for a morning meeting, which went well.  As the meetings are only ever a half day after lunch I followed my usual habit and headed for Mere Sands Wood Wildlife Trust Reserve.

As the day was so pleasant I took the route right round the outer edge of the reserve, making a detour into the middle to visit a viewing  platform.  As it turned out it was well worth the extra stroll as it had better views of the birds than the hides I visited later.

Just near the platform was this female Coot feeding a couple of young.  Well I assume it was the female a second came  grumpily out of the vegetation muttering to itself and joined later.  I assume this was the male.
