Lindisfarne

I was up and out relatively early today (well for me anyway!) and drove up to Lindisfarne for a walk around the island. It was pretty cloudy when I arrived but it didn't take long before the sun was burning off the clouds. Unfortunately Lindisfarne Castle is undergoing renovations at the moment and covered in scaffold so it doesn't look its best! Still there were plenty of other interesting things to see, including these upturned boat hulls converted to fishermens storage huts, practical AND attractive :-)

I left Lindisfarne around lunch time to get across the causway before the high tide, then decided to drive down to Craster for some lunch... lovely local crab sandwiches and a pint, before walking over to Dunstanburgh Castle... two castles in one day!
