Great Barrier

A beautiful morning so we decided to set off early on a fishing expedition. By 7ish, which is early if you have a 5 and 6 year old in tow(!) we were on the boat and heading to Green Rock, only 15 mins from the bay.

Being offshore Kingfish are more common and after a few minutes we hooked landed a nice 1 meter or so fish. A few minutes later we caught a smaller one, but let it go.

Phil being a very keen spear fisherman and amazing free diver then dived on the rock, all 15m or 50ft of it. He speared a big Kingie, but sadly it wrapped itself around the rock. He had to free dive to 20m (60ft) to retrieve it.

The rest of the day was equally amazing. We all went out on the big boat and had lunch and went snorkeling. Then back to the bay for the start of NY celebrations. The kids had roasted marshmallows on the beach. The adults had simply delicious turkey

A good time had by all, but we all went bed before 12.

Happy New Year!
