The party's over

Everything has gone wonderfully well today for Mr. T's pre-birthday surprise. We started a leisurely journey down to Cambridgeshire at a reasonable hour this morning, but then ...... yes you got it..... we took a little detour to a gliding club in Leics. where we stopped for lunch and watched the gliders either going up on the winch or taking an aerotow. The weather, although gorgeous for most of us is not brilliant for gliding activities - not enough thermals, lift etc. (I pretend to be knowledgeable about these things!). Then we are off again, and as we get off the M11 at Duxford (we are going to the air show tomorrow) there is a fantastic display overhead which Mr. T obviously wants to mount the grass verge and get out of the car to watch. I am trying to chivy him along lest we are late arriving at the pub we are staying at in the gorgeous village of Balsham, Cambs. However I managed to get himself and me changed and out into the pub garden not too long before all of his children, and one of mine, and nearly all of his grandchildren arrived at the appointed hour of 6.30 in the car park and then made their presence felt by joining us in the garden. I don't think Mr. T has ever been so lost for words - he was very chuffed to say the least.

We have all had a great, great evening and the lovely W, one of Mr. T's grandsons shows signs of being a party pooper - but then who can blame him at age 10!
