For the last time.....

I decided to go and see the beautiful Green wing orchids in the local churchyard one last time today - there were about 230 individual spikes which is an amazing number, and although some were certainly going over, there were still some spikes yet to open.
I love the Green wings, not least because they flower around my birthday (which is on Thursday).
Today the evening light was absolutely divine, so my final shot this year is a beautiful spike with pale sepals in the wonderful late evening sun, taken with the sun behind showing the flowers off to perfection.
Here's to even more spikes in 2018!
