A splash of pink

Back to school today - nothing too strenuous, a cup of coffee, catch up and gentle potter around the classroom, reality hits tomorrow. We have 6 new children in school, all different ages, and the numbers are looking good.
Other than that, I made some juice with our abundance of grapes, had a stroll to the beach and did a bit of herb clearing.

This little house is now empty, the last occupier, an old chap who had been there for many years, died a few years ago. It's the last house before crossing the mountain to Bantry and has a certain charm, with the nerines and hydrangea still blooming regardless. The house was one of many built around 1900 by the Land Commission - land was allocated for the building of homes for landless labourers and by the 1920s over 50,000 had been built. I suspect there are just two rooms downstairs and there's a small room in the attic. An acre of land allowed for self-sufficiency and this little place still has its sheds intact.
