Gorgeous Garganey
Back online after our club photography trip to the Yorkshire Wolds so catching up with Blips. On our way up we stopped off at Blacktoft Sands RSPB reserve which although small gave this fantastic chance. As well as the privilege of seeing a Sparrowhawk in flight, Marsh Harriers, Avocets, Shoveller Ducks and Sedge and Willow Warblers
Garganey are estimated to have only between 14 and 93 breeding pairs in the UK so I'm incredibly grateful to the bird watchers who pointed out where they were and the Moorhen that spooked them away from their nest. For more info on them click here :) https://www.rspb.org.uk/birds-and-wildlife/bird-and-wildlife-guides/bird-a-z/g/garganey/ Extra is a close up crop of his amazing plumage.
Hope you had a good day
