My Life With Luna

Ickworth House

Although it's only 30 miles away near Bury St Edmunds, we had never been to Ickworth House before.   It's owned by the National Trust since being bequeathed to them by the Hervey family in lieu of death duties.    It was commissioned by Frederick Hervey, 4th Earl of Bristol and Bishop of Derry and built between 1795 - 1829 to the design of Italian architect Asprucci.
We did a 4 mile walk before lunch and then took a tour of the rotunda and west wing.   I found the kitchens and servants quarters amazing, the main house seemed rather ornate and 'over the top' but was still interesting.
The extra is of the Canal Lake, it is full of Water Lily leaves at present, should be beautiful when they come into flower.
