Book group

A busy day after waking at 4am. I obviously need to walk 5 hours a day in Mallorca to sleep well! Had to clean house for book group meeting then run tompist office for a passport form, to find they can only be had in Alnwick or Morpeth. I am not risking applying on-line as I need it soon, so have an appointment at the office in Durham on Wednesday. So the plan was to go to Alnwick after Book group, pick up the form and go to the photo booth for the pictures.

We discussed my choice, 'Red Dust Road' by the lovely Scottish Maker Jackie Kay. People liked her humour and warmth and we talked a bit about adoption, racism and other issues from the book. Just as people were about to leave our friends S and M from Yorkshire arrived unexpectedly, having been up clearing out her mum's house to sell. So after more coffee and cake, and a lovely but too short visit, they departed, too late for us to go to the post office before it shut. It will be first thing tomorrow as the van needs packing.

Now we are rushing to get up the valley to have supper with Ailie.
