Between fen and mountains

Photos I wish I had taken

Well, I am just about photoed out. I caught the one euro train the 50 kms to Perpignan and then took the free bus to the city centre to visit Visa pour l'image, the annual exhibition of the best in world photo journalism. The exhibition is spread over eleven sites and there is far too much to see in the four hours I had available. I offer you a few samples to give you the flavour (there seemed to be no ban on photographing the images).
It really was inspiring , so much so that I wandered around trying to do a bit of photo journalism myself. I took one of coffee time, another of chicken for dinner, Helena and judging the best. Some of the other shots I took are in the flickr set.

I walked through the Arab quarter which I would not do at night alone, especially carrying a camera. In 2005 there were serious riots after the long standing, peaceful cohabitation of the North Africans and the Gypsies was broken and lives were lost. Today was peaceful except for one argument spilling out onto the street, and this disgruntled child being led away, as his mother communicated her intentions to her friend above.
