Potting

I woke up early and listened to all the birds singing as I lay in bed.  Then I turned on Radio 4 to discover they were playing bird song  as part of National Dawn Chorus Day!  I love to hear the birds singing but especially at this time of year when the air is so full of their songs.

I spent the day working at the allotment and in the garden.  In my allotment I put out  my peas - it took a while by the time I had staked and netted them.  Everything is growing slowly but the spinich has leaves, and the carrots and parsnips are surviving.  I planted my French beans, it has been so cold I haven't bothered until now.  I have them at home on the patio so once they have started to grow I can bring them indoors until the weather warms up.

Its been a busy day, trying to keep up with things but its been fantastic to spend the day outside.  This morning at the allotment it was ten degrees and I was sipping hot tea from my flask to warm up but this afternoon the sun came out and it reached 17 degrees - such a relief to feel some warmth at last.  This evening I am quite tired from all my activity so I am planning a hot bath and an early night.  I hope you have all had a lovely weekend.
