Military vehicle delight
We ventured down to Hastings first thing as GravyC was running the Hastings 5 mile race. I was hoping to run, but decided against it having had back problems all week.
Noo was keen to go to Flamingo Park, but we spotted these military vehicles before we got there. Apparently they were there to commemorate this:
"On March 17, 1909 members of the Automobile Association (now known as the AA) carried a battalion of 600 Guardsmen, drawn from three Guards regiments, from London to Hastings in their private motor cars. This was an exercise organised by the Automobile Association in conjunction with the War Office, the forerunner of the Ministry of Defence, to test the viability of moving troops in large numbers by motor transport."
Noo, of course, was delighted! He got to sit on the roof of this vehicle twice - once with me and then again with his daddy. After these thrills he went to Flamingo Park with GravyC while I ran from Hastings to Pevensey. Thankfully, my back behaved itself.
