Jolly night out
Last night involved an episode too far of In the Line of Duty (though our future selves will thank us that we are left with two to the finale and not a troublesome three) and some telling a dog not to bark at foxes at 2am so I spent the morning in a slightly stumbly daze reminiscent of the first newborn weeks. Though that early training obviously paid off as I was somehow still able to walk the dog, help J with some English homework, cook lunch and collect a parcel from the Post Office.
Joyously a nap was available to restore the energy levels for a trip into town with fellow tap lovers to see the tremendous 42nd Street. The kids' (and indeed my erstwhile) tap teacher starred in the original show in London and now they know the inspiration for her motivational style. Inspiring stuff all round from an incredibly talented cast. All the massive sparkly dancing you could ever wish for and in a really beautiful old theatre in the heart of Covent Garden. And even time for a quick pre-theatre dinner at the very buzzy Balthazar.
And now hopefully some foxless sleep. Just watching all that tapping is quite exhausting.
Excuse the shoddy photo but even though brightly lit signs in the dark are a rubbish backdrop it kind of captures the spirit of the night.
