Silent Pool..
... in the Surrey Hills.
Mr C and I decided to take Ruby for a walk somewhere different. It was our first visit to Silent Pool and not sure we will return if I'm honest. We followed the fox trail first up Mount Everest... ok a hill.... ok probably a mole hill to a lot of you but to an unfit Mr C and I it was tough going. The North Downs Way crossed our path at the top of the hill, we walked a bit further to a pine woods and then slowly descended back down the hill to walk around the pool. Which really was two smallish ponds. To one side of the pond is a vineyard and to the other a gin distillery, I have tried the gin before at a farmers market and thought it was lovely.
We returned to the car and made another stop just up the road, Newlands Corner, to grab a drink and enjoy the views over the hills. A popular place with dog walkers, cyclists and motorbike riders all enjoying their Saturday afternoon.
The weather was warm with splashes of sunshine making it a lovely afternoon.... even if I wasn't too keen on the ponds.
Couple in extras.
