Stories From the Cross
Went to a talk today about Kings Cross in the fifties, focussing on jazz, and particularly the El Rocco, a jazz cellar which in its heyday hosted the likes of Frank Sinatra and Sarah Vaughan.
El Rocco still exists and the main photo is of its current manager, Paul Roper.
The first extra is of Dick Hughes, pianist and journalist.
The second is of his oldest daughter, Vashti, who is hosting the series and the third of daughter Christa, singer, comedian and cabaret performer.
An interesting afternoon. The room was full of many old habitués of the Cross.
Much grist for my mill:)
