BBC4 Hydora Lane

The challenge this week was Hydora Lane.  See Hobbs for a great description of this lane.

At one time in the 1880s foot races were held here, part of an annual Sports Day organised by Andrew Gardiner of Gardner's Inn.
There were monetary prizes and betting and spectators and competitors came from far and wide.
I seem to remember reading that the runners were barefoot and ran on a cinder track.

For different takes on this challenge see also Cymbeline and Doli.
