Our very brief diversion to the Elterwater area of the Lake District was over as we set off southwards to see relatives. The glorious sunshine together with the beautiful spring countryside made us wish we could stay longer and wander up hills and alongside streams and lakes. The recent dry weather has caused some streams to dry up, waterfalls are no longer so impressive and the drop in water levels is obvious here in Elterwater. It's a very different scene from the time of devastating floods seventeen months ago but evidence of the devastation is still around.
