Topping trees

A n I spent the morning climbing our big sycamore tree to top it. Al was up the tree with a saw and I was belaying him. The tree is really tall and it is on a steep slope giving a sense of being much higher than it really is. A was saying he felt very high and exposed. It was a challenging job to get the large branches to fall in a controlled way and then untangling them from other branches. Glad we have all our rock climbing gear for this job! As we were doing it, and the electronic babysitters were employed it occurred to me that the boys would love to climb this tree. So A set up a top rope and this is them up the tree. They loved it! Lots of climbing and swinging and fun. Definitely made me feel better that the May Day holiday had been more of a family day.
