For over 100 years the lighthouse at Barns Ness guided mariners to the approaches to the Forth. It is one of many built by the famous Stevenson but since the lights were automated it was declared redundant and deactivated in 2005. It must have been one of the more desired places for a keeper as it is on the mainland with easy access and plenty of flat ground on which to grow food. The keepers' quarters are now let and it must be ideal for birdwatchers as quite often migrating birds rest there. I saw my first swallow of the summer and some other birds which, with my limited knowledge, I could not identify.
The yellow paintwork struck me that it might be suitable for BobsBlip's challenge using the 'y' theme.
