On patrol

The Pope arrived today, and stayed in his residence on the Nile. So, naturally it was closed off and patrolled regularly by the military.

His entourage stayed at the hotel where I swim, so we were 'accompanied' by plain clothes policemen, and there were random visits by high ranking police officials throughout the day. The boats sped up and down the river, got swamped by the swell and the unusually small number of us swimming took photos of the military and waved to them.

All a bit surreal really.
