First signs of autumn

Having completely missed the strawberry and raspberry jam-making for the second year rubbing, we're going to be filling the winter store cupboard with a selection of autumn produce.

Today the beetroot crop from our patio container was harvested and there was just enough to make the Rick Stein Beetroot Chutney recipe we love. It was all done by my dear husband - growing, shopping for additional ingredients and the making. I was there only in a consultancy capacity when the finer points of using the food processor and zero-ing the digital scales needed assistance.

Our son was amused by the visits of friends today, and our daughter was busy with homework tasks and a trip out this evening to her youth group.

A little further progress on the crutches for A, who's managed to get through the day with only one lot of pain killers so hopefully that means he's feeling a little better. Hugs help. I could do with some!
