Picnic Time

The sun returned today. What a difference it makes! 

TM has a pulled a hamstring, or some such, not bad, but enough to make him think that he should lay off the digging today.

So we packed a picnic and set off to repeat part of the walk we did on Monday. We went down to the river and spread out the rug and feasted on pork pies, ham sandwiches and fizzy water. We know how to push the boat out!

Then we sat and listened to the water gurgling, watched a buzzard circling and orange tip butterflies dancing in the sunshine.  

I think these flowers are stitchworts of some sort. As for the insect, well,  it looks a lot like a fly. But what kind of fly? I have no idea.

The other good thing about today - I put the last stitches in the quilt I've been working on for the last year and a bit. Hooray.
