Above And Beyond...

Ashton Keynes

After a couple of hours walk around Cirencester town centre with our friends, we decided on a walk along the Thames towpath to the delightful village of Ashton Keynes, North Wiltshire.

The village was known as AESCTUN in 800 AD and appeared in the Domesday book as ESSITONE in 1086 and changed its name 10 times in the next 800 years until its present name was recorded. It's a typical Olde Worlde english village that is largely unspoilt by the modern age.

The sun was out and we enjoyed an hour sat in the village pub garden having a cuppa before heading back along the towpath to our friends house for a bite to eat before heading home to Wales.

As I detest paying the Severn Bridge toll we drove via Gloucester along the Severn to Chepstow, sunroof open, enjoying the evening sunshine.
