Carfest (north)

Where to start

What an amazing weekend we had.

We arrived Friday about 5, checked in to our tent (provided by Greenfields), and cracked open a beer and a Vodka Tonic (provided by M&S), whilst the kids made a den from sleeping bags.

Then a wander to the half of the show that was open for the early bird arrivals, fish and chips, spicy wraps, beer, pimms and an Abba tribute band got us into the festival mood.

Saturday dawned, scorchio.

Too much to write about really, the whole event was amazing. You might love or hate Chris Evans (personally I am a massive fan) but you can't detract from the idea he had.
To put on a festival that included his passions of cars, music, food and family, to raise money for Children in Need. At point of writing over £750,000 has been raised by CarFest. He was there with his family from the start as he arrived in the original Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and hosted the main stage all night.

As well as all the fabulous things to see and do, the amazing cars, brilliant food, the people were so nice. Everyone from the visitors, and those working, even down to the guys on the camping gate who had worked from 10am to 11pm, still a smile, a cheery word and a ruffle of the kids hair.

Probably the worst thing about the weekend was my decision not to take my camera, in case I got too pissed and dropped it down a porta loo. Still the trusty phone didn't do too bad.

We left before the end on Sunday as Charlie finally goes back to school on Monday and the kids were pooper scoopered.

Home, everyone is clean, has eaten at least one vegetable and there we go, perfect end to the summer.
