Iron Ore Mine

This was once a scene of heavy industry. There is a photo from 1917 on the wee notice board showing a huge American built steam driven excavator. From here and other routes there was a network of train lines associated with the works. While the spanning girders have been removed towering bridge piers and abutments remain where the lines crossed rivers and small valleys.
