Sheffield
I went into work in the morning for a bit, mostly to let in the chap who's working on the kitchen and bathroom of the last of the flats to be renovated. He's also going to tile the floor of the entrance area, which we are quite excited about and there will be pictures later in the week.
Anyway, back to today - I caught the train to Sheffield for an afternoon of wandering around before meeting Sav later. I made my way to The Wintergarden, which adjoins the Millennium Gallery. There can't be many people in Britain who haven't used cutlery that was made in Sheffield, so I couldn't pass by the exhibition of metalwork without going in for a look round.
Snooker isn't my thing, but apparently there's a big tournament going on right now, a World Tournament, I believe, and there were a coup,e of snooker tables set up in the winter garden glass house that had attracted quite a bit of attention.
I moved on to the cathedral, where there was a photography display. I wandered through the photos wondering why I even bother to pick up a camera, let alone use it!
I was meeting Sav at the Park and Ride over at the shopping metropolis that is Meadowhall so took a tram there and was just orientating myself when he rang to say he was somewhere close by ... eventually he made it to the right car park! We had a quick early dinner before heading to the Arena for the main event - a Joe Bonamassa gig.
As ever, he was great ( it was a surprise to see him in an orange suit, not his usual colour choice ). After the gig, we stepped outside into a raging blizzard! Luckily it only lasted a few minutes, but it was a shock to the system. Luckily the drive home was dry and clear.
