Through a lens darkly

A nice day for the zombie apocalypse!

This is the Brunel's SS Great Britain (in Bristol), as photographed with my cameraphone. I think maybe there's something greasy on the lens, as it looks very soft-focus! I bitterly regretted not having a proper camera on me as the light was incredible last night.

HOWEVER, it was just as well I didn't have an expensive camera on me, since I was heading towards the zombie apocalypse when I took this photo.

For those of you who don't know what the heck I'm talking about, I'm talking about 2.8 hours later.

It's basically a city-wide game of tag. Volunteers dress as zombies and try to tag you as you attempt to get to checkpoints during the 2.8 hour-long event. It all ends with a big zombie disco!

Unfortunately for me, I didn't survive the zombie apocalypse. The VERY LAST ZOMBIE in the entire event managed to tag me. I don't feel too badly about my performance though, as the survival rate was below 30%. Additionally, I took a bad tumble down a flight of stairs while sprinting away from a zombie, and crashed into a wall. I have skinned my arm and knee, and have an epic bruise on my hip. I had to have St John's Ambulance come out to tend to my wounds.

This was bad enough, but later on in the game I got pushed to the ground by an over-excited burly man and I landed on my wounds. OUCH!

All in all, it was a lot of fun - we ran around prison cells, abandoned banks, churches and shopping centres. Woo!
