Hobble End Sunrise
Sunrises are now proving to be more difficult to be in position for, unless they are close to home. This is 6 am and literally 2 minutes down the road, standing in a pub car park and looking across local fields.
Technical: Quite a lot of work to present this image to you. In (on) camera is a 3 stop neutral density hard graduated filter, this controlled the sky exposure, including the sun. It also put the majority of the tree into silhouette.
Back in the computer I recovered the darkened tree using adjustment brushes in Lightroom (I could have probably done it better in Photoshop using a quick mask and curves adjustment). I added a luminosity mask to bring out a bit more detail in the clouds, warmed the white balance a touch and sharpened for output.
