House history

This insignificant looking book is one of my treasures. It is a diary of everything we have done in our house and garden since the day we moved in, 28 September 1967. It records when new windows were fitted, when we decorated each room and the colours we chose, every new carpet, changes to the garden and the arrival of various cats. Early entries were very detailed and included such excitement as "lined a kitchen shelf with Fablon". In 1972 we went to live in Kenya for two years and the book records that we rented out the house for £21 per week inclusive! It also describes the state the house was in when we returned - house not too bad, garden a mess!
The book is out today because we have embarked on a new project and we needed to look back at the house history. York stone crazy paving that Normous laid around the house in 1970 has crumbled badly and is now being replaced. Workmen arrived this morning, lifted all the old stone and dug down deeper ready for a new surface.. They say it will be done in ten days, let's hope so.
Meanwhile Coco decided it was safer to stay indoors.
