Early Spider Orchid

This afternoon the spaniel and I set off for a long walk over the South Downs in search of the rare Early Spider Orchid. I know the broad "secret" location but even so it took quite a bit of searching top in them down (the flower spikes are only about two inches high). Conditions were far from ideal with a strong northerly wind, hail and heavy rain but eventually efforts were rewarded. I didn't search the whole site but still counted well over a hundred flowering spikes.
