An ANZAC reflection
When we planned the services for the year, the Wednesday following ANZAC Day was designated as an ANZAC service.
Everyone was feeling a bit over another formal service with flag waving, trumpet playing and Ode reading , so instead, we gathered in a small meeting room to share eucharist and reflect on ANZAC.
I brought some conversation starters; the ubiquitous ANZAC biscuits, the Aussie favourite Lamingtons, knitted poppies, rosemary for remembrance and tiny crab apples from outside my parish office - fallen fruit.
The conversations that ensued were peace loving and respectful of each other's family history. What a gentle way to reflect.
