Jenolan Caves or hobbs stole my blip

Hobbs and trisharooni took TreeHugger and I to Jenolan Caves this morning. The early start meant that we had magnificent misty views on the way and a few stops were made to record them (first extra). After a reviving cup of coffee we booked our first cave tour then walked to the Blue Lake while we were waiting. The calcium carbonate deposits turn the water a pretty milky blue green colour, similar to the waterways I have seen in parts of Austria (second extra).
The Temple of Baal was spectacular and I will put some photos on Flickr when I get time. Chifley Cave, our second tour, was quite different and this photo shows one of the 'shawl' formations formed by the water trickling down the rockface rather than dripping. The thin sheets form into folds and often contain coloured strips of minerals, such as iron oxide. I wanted to post a photo from the first cave but hobbs beat me to it with the very same one!
We were very tired wombats at the end of the day but we managed to eat a lovely Italian meal in the evening with hobbs and Norma back at Blackheath.
Some Flickr photos here.
