Who's Fur?

On a hike this past weekend I came upon this patch of fur caught on some twigs. I liked the mix of curly, soft underfur and the straight, coarser hairs caught entwined on these lichen encrusted twigs. 

I wondered what animal this might be from? Deer are common, although the fur is gray. Coyote perhaps?
