Lilac?

Walked into town this afternoon to post a parcel, and on the way back I noticed this bloom sheltered under a canopy of leaves. I think it is a lilac - although it is in there with a bamboo plant.

This evening I tslked with my friend Jood in France - we hadn't spoken in ages so it was great to catch up. :)
