A Rainy Day

Into every life a little rain must fall... Living in Scotland prepares one well for the odd cool, rainy day. Our first full day in Venice had a dull, wet start but we didn't let that dampen our spirits. We began our explorations with breakfast of cappuccino and a croissant and then embarked on one of those hop on hop off tour thingys to get the lay of the land. But this is Venice so it wasn't a bus but a vaporetto! We learned a little about the history of the place and hopped off on Murano island to see some of their famous glass products being made. By the time we parted for a wee siesta, we were a bit cold and foot sore but the sunset was rather wonderful erasing any rainy thoughts.

We made our way to a vegan restaurant that turned out to be closed. Hey ho! We found another restaurant (they're hard to miss) and the waiter gave us the best customer service I've had in a long time. When we said that we wanted a vegan meal, he essentially said that they would make whatever ingredients they carried on the menu into any form we wanted. And they did, with a smile, and it was delicious! Such a civilised approach to eating.

The blip for today has to be my excellent travel companions. We've never travelled together before and I hope this isn't our last trip. Three cheers for Watty and Marco!
