Monday's local history blip...
... from the Harrogate Library archives.
This shows one of the main roads through the town centre, as it was around 1900 and again today.
Unlike my earlier local history blips, I have taken a wider shot to show just what has happened to the skyline of Parliament Street, whilst outlining approximately the corresponding area of the original photo.
There have clearly been some improvements in the past 120 years, not least the establishment of the rather expensive jewellery store on the right of the picture. Meanwhile the left hand side, of what is now a one-way street, is almost exclusively occupied by bars and restaurants.
