Aama molt
In the dusk at Sandy Beach, I was enjoying the end of the day. This molted crab shell was upside down and therefore striking for its yellow/white belly shell. Turned it over and found a whole skeleton, tho as I moved it, it quickly lost a claw and other bits. I love to find these molts. Susan Scott has info here. (I have spelled the crab name wrong in previous posts.)
Extra is a kolea (Pacific golden plover) in its distinctive spring attire, getting ready to fly back to Alaska for the summer to nest and rear their young. Within four days, they are suppose to be gone. Their signal to fly is triggered by length of day. They gathered in flocks, then leave. Underweight or injured birds will remain behind here for the summer.
