End Of An Era
The significance of today kind of crept up on me without my being aware.
As I cooked Joshua his pre rugby breakfast I had a growing realisation that something special was coming to an end.
Eleven years ago Joshua, aged six, told Clare and I that he wanted to play rugby and since then every Sunday, end of August to late April/early May my Sunday's have been devoted to kitting him out, feeding him and transporting him all over Cornwall.
Today an almost perfect confluence of events has occurred;
It's the end of the season
It's the last game of the season
It's Cup Final Day
It's Joshua's last game for Falmouth (he will be in the Army for next season)
It's Adam (his coach) last game in charge (a break maybe?) after coaching the same lads for nine years.
Maybe things didn't go quite to plan, losing the final 22 - 12 to Wadebridge but the comments from the lads were heartening to listen to and Adam should be in no doubt as to how much he has influenced the lives of these young men nor how many of them consider him their friend - a great accolade.
Elsewhere the sun shone so having had a quick Starbucks I dropped a very tired Joshua home before setting off for town to see what sort of BBQ food remained on the shelves.
It didn't take long for the sun to disappear and it to turn chilly so i just enjoyed a coffee before collecting Sam and heading home.
A quiet evening cooking a cake for Tuesday and watching some TV with Josh.
