There is the most delightful elderly lady farmer who lives all alone in a beautiful 18th century farmhouse...unchanged in all these years. It sits at the end of this long driveway. 
Out walking today we saw her attempting to prevent her sheep and lambs from straying onto the road so we helped herd them back to safety. These sheep are her pets.  
We ended up walking down to the farm and talked for ages. We were amazed to find that a ruined wall behind the farm used to be part of a house where retired monks spent their final years. These monks were from Kilwinning Abbey which was disestablished in the late 16th century. The Abbey was founded in the mid 12th century.
