Gatehouse
I think these must once have been the gates to the Underley Estate, and the house you can see between them was, presumably, the gatehouse.
Many years ago when I lived in the farmhouse on the Underley Estate, an uncle of mine came to visit. He'd bought me an old book about the area, which described a journey by train, with the traveller disembarking at Kirlby Lonsdale station. (The station is long closed, as is the line it was on, although the buildings are still in use.)
From the station, our traveller took a horse-drawn cab to Underley Estate, which is, by my reckoning, a mile or two. I guess they would have entered by these gates, which the Minx and I passed on our walk, this evening. I used to try to imagine the route from the gates to the grand house of the Underley Estate but it was hard to see exactly where it ran. These days, via the boon of Google Earth, you can see quite easily where the road might have run.
